23  Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in ^dstripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.

  13  And it came to pass that they took him and bound him, and ^ascourged his skin with faggots, yea, even unto death.

  26  And Alma cried, saying: How long shall we suffer these great ^aafflictions, O Lord? O Lord, give us strength according to our faith which is in Christ, even unto deliverance. And they broke the cords with which they were bound; and when the people saw this, they began to flee, for the fear of destruction had come upon them.

  22  I soon found, however, that my telling the story had excited a great deal of prejudice against me among professors of religion, and was the cause of great ^apersecution, which continued to increase; and though I was an obscure boy, only between fourteen and fifteen years of age, and my circumstances in life such as to make a boy of no consequence in the world, yet men of high standing would take notice sufficient to excite the public mind against me, and create a bitter persecution; and this was common among all the sects—all united to persecute me.
