36  And it came to pass that Adam, being tempted of the devil—for, behold, the devil was before Adam, for he rebelled against me, saying, Give me thine honor, which is my power; and also a ^fthird part of the hosts of heaven turned he away from me because of their agency;

  3  And these things will they do unto you, because they have not ^aknown the Father, nor me.

  16  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the ^bmind of Christ.

  12  And thus Laman and Lemuel, being the eldest, did murmur against their father. And they did murmur because they ^cknew not the dealings of that God who had created them.

  26  Now behold, those secret oaths and covenants did not come forth unto Gadianton from the records which were delivered unto Helaman; but behold, they were put into the heart of Gadianton by that ^dsame being who did entice our first parents to partake of the forbidden fruit—

  5  Now all this was done, and there were no wars as yet among them; and all this iniquity had come upon the people ^abecause they did yield themselves unto the power of Satan.

  16  And they were kept up by the ^apower of the devil to administer these oaths unto the people, to keep them in darkness, to help such as sought power to gain power, and to murder, and to plunder, and to lie, and to commit all manner of wickedness and whoredoms.
