D&C 122:7
 7 And if thou shouldst be cast into the apit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the bdeep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to chedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of dhell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee eexperience, and shall be for thy good.

  24  And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.

  6  Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.

  2  I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into adeep waters, where the floods overflow me.

  3  For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

  25  Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

  7  He hath ahedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

  6  The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;

  16  But, exerting all my powers to call upon God to deliver me out of the power of this enemy which had seized upon me, and at the very moment when I was ready to sink into despair and abandon myself to destruction—not to an imaginary ruin, but to the power of some actual being from the unseen world, who had such marvelous power as I had never before felt in any being—just at this moment of great alarm, I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me.

  10  But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive agood at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

  20  Wherefore is light given to him that is in bmisery, and life unto the bitter in soul;

  27  Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

  10  I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be bexercised in it.

  5  Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their agood.

  17  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

  10  For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

  20  For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it apatiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

  11  For it must needs be, that there is an aopposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

  13  So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his bgrief was very great.

  20  The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the Lord, was taken in their bpits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.

  45  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth crain on the just and on the unjust.

  3  Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your bgood, and to my name's glory, saith the Lord.

  87  Therefore, let my servant William put his trust in me, and cease to fear concerning his family, because of the sickness of the land. If ye love me, keep my commandments; and the sickness of the land shall bredound to your glory.
