8  For it is the day of the Lord's ^avengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

  1  For, behold, the ^bday cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

  21  And I will execute ^avengeance and fury upon them, even as upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.

  26  But if she observe not to do whatsoever I have commanded her, I will visit her according to all her works, with sore affliction, with pestilence, with plague, with sword, with ^fvengeance, with devouring fire.

  31  And the chosen messengers went forth to declare the ^aacceptable day of the Lord and proclaim liberty to the captives who were bound, even unto all who would repent of their sins and receive the gospel.
