6  For hereafter you shall be ^aordained and go forth and deliver my words unto the children of men.

  11  This being an ordinance unto you, that you are an elder under his hand, he being the ^afirst unto you, that you might be an elder unto this church of Christ, bearing my name—

  7  And none have I appointed to be his counselor over him in the church, concerning church matters, except it is his brother, Joseph Smith, Jun.

  85  That their souls may escape the wrath of God, the desolation of abomination which awaits the wicked, both in this world and in the world to come. Verily, I say unto you, let those who are not the ^bfirst elders continue in the vineyard until the mouth of the Lord shall call them, for their time is not yet come; their garments are not clean from the blood of this generation.

  7  I speak not concerning those who are appointed to lead my people, who are the ^afirst elders of my church, for they are not all under this condemnation;

  125  I give unto you my servant Joseph to be a presiding elder over all my church, to be a translator, a revelator, a ^aseer, and prophet.
